The Joint Community Commission (CoCom) has decided to use the Luxembourg-based online platform Doctena to manage appointments for vaccinations in the Brussels Region.

According to the head of the hygiene department of the CoCom Inge Neven, the system should be operational from mid-April.The Joint Community Commission has encountered some difficulties with the federal platform of application for vaccination and registration Doclr.

A few days ago, it was decided to abandon the latter and to develop an own registration system. Doctena, which specializes in the online organization of medical appointments, has been chosen as the provider of the new registration platform.

According to Inge Neven, the Brussels Region will continue to use the existing Doclr database to invite patients to be vaccinated. The objective is to simplify the registration for an appointment. The process via Doclr was found to be complex, as it required entering a 14-digit code and adding many details.

The new tool will only ask for basic information so that the patient or caregiver can schedule an initial vaccination as soon as possible.

Additional information is then requested from the patient, for example during the waiting period after the vaccination. The difficulties with Doclr also put a strain on the telephone call center set up for vaccination appointments in Brussels.

Making an appointment by phone currently takes fifteen minutes. The objective is to reduce it significantly.
