The doctena.be website is for the moment intended for the inhabitants of Brussels but should be useful for the inhabitants of the big Belgian cities within a year.
Getting a quick appointment with a specialist often requires many calls and a good dose of patience. The doctena website, recently launched in Belgium, proposes to put an end to this problem: patients have direct access to the doctors’ diaries and can, in a few clicks, make an appointment. This is the first site of its kind in Belgium.
“In addition to quickly finding a doctor near his home, the Internet user is no longer bound to office hours to make an appointment,” says doctena.be founder Patrick Krafen.
Currently, about a hundred Brussels doctors are registered on the platform. More than 23,990 appointments are already available. “The dental offering is already very comprehensive with about 30 registered professionals.”
The only drawback is that the site does not indicate, at first glance, which doctors are covered by a convention. But that’s not stopping the site from growing. “We are currently in discussion with various medical practices and centers to offer even more choices to patients. We expect to double the number of doctors on the platform by the start of the school year,” says the Belgian-Luxembourg entrepreneur.
Patrick Krafen has other plans for Belgium: to offer meetings in the country’s main cities within a year.
It was in the United States that the entrepreneur discovered the concept. The first site of this type was developed in 2007 in New York. The concept was then adopted by physicians in major European and American cities. “Such a tool is interesting for healthcare professionals since it saves a lot of time in the secretarial area. Diary management represents a quarter of the workload in medical practices.”
Before setting out to conquer the Belgian market, the entrepreneur first developed Doctena in Luxembourg, starting in 2013. “We have received a very good response. The number of new appointments continues to grow. Just last month alone, there was another 10 percent increase. That’s very encouraging.”
